SINGAPORE, June 21: Narayan Khakurel spends his weekdays working at the Tengbaru outlet of international food chain KFC here in Singapore while his weekend is for friends who have also come to work in this island nation.
He is one of six Nepali youths selected by KFC from Kathmandu around two years ago to work at their outlets in Singapore. Bhagirath Thapa ´Anil´, Narayan Krishna Kayastha, Mohammad Nazi Uddin, Dilip Atreya and Sanjay Thapa were also chosen along with the lad from Chabahil, Kathmandu. KATHMANDU, Dec 29: One of the issues in the nationwide stoppage of health institutions is the safety of medical persons. What would be a solution for conflict between doctors and family members of patients?
Here´s a prescription from Dr Chakra Raj Pandey, orthopedic surgeon at Medicare Hospital in Kathmandu. He refunds the fee if the patient dies during treatment. “In principal you´ve to pay the fee for the medical service received”, he says. “However, I don´t want to receive the fee from bereaved family members.”
Not only this, he treats for free if his patients have to have a second operation for the same problem. “It definitely hurts our poor brothers to pay even if their nearest one has passed away during treatment,” he says.
He has taken this campaign as his own fight against greed.
He also says that the issue of security of health workers and institutions has emerged because of the medical profession’s own weakness. “We’re also responsible for insecurity in the hospital and we should not shy away from taking the blame”, he says. “We should inform them (service seekers) properly.” ( Read more )
