राष्ट्रपति रामवरण यादवले सहमतिको सरकार निर्माणका लागि दिएको एक साताको म्याद बुधबार सकिँदैछ। नेताहरूको अहिलेसम्मको गति हेर्दा अबका दुई/तीन दिनमा सहमति बनिहाल्ने स्थिति देखिँदैन। यसैबीच प्रमुख दलहरू सहमतिकै सरकार बनाउनेतिर उन्मुख देखिए भने तिनकै आग्रहमा राष्ट्रपतिबाट अरू केही दिन म्याद थप हुन पनि सक्छ। अन्यथा सहमतिको सट्टा बहुमत सरकार बनाउने संविधानको धारातर्फ मुलुक अघि बढ्नेछ।
माधवकुमार नेपालले प्रधानमन्त्री पदबाट राजीनामा दिएपछि प्रमुख दलहरू सरकार निर्माणको कसरतमा लागेका छन्। तर, त्यो कसरत राष्ट्रिय सहमति त के पार्टीभित्रै सहमति गर्नसमेत विफल भएको छ। दलभित्रका गुटहरूको दलदलमा राष्ट्रिय राजनीति भासिएको छ। प्रमुख दल एनेकपा (माओवादी), नेपाली कांग्रेस र नेकपा (एमाले)भित्र देखिएका गतिविधिले सहजै राजनीतिक निकास दिने लक्षण देखिएको छैन। ( Read more )

बाँसको स्कुलका नामले चिनिएको समता शिक्षा निकेतनको शीरमा यो साता तीनवटा प्वाँख थपिएका छन्। नौ वर्षअघि काठमाडौंको जोरपाटीमा सुरु भएको एउटा सानो अभियान यतिबेला देशका विभिन्न स्थानमा पुग्ने क्रममा छ। यसै सिलसिलामा समताले आफ्नो १८औं शाखाको शिलान्यास गोरखा बजारमा गरेको छ। पोखरा र भैरहवामा पनि यो स्कुलको शाखा उद्घाटन भई पठनपाठन सुरु भएको छ।
विपन्न परिवारबाट आएका विद्यार्थीलाई यस स्कुलमा मासिक सय रुपैयाँ शुल्कमा पढ्ने अवसर दिइएको छ। एकपटक भर्ना हुन १ सय ५० रुपैयाँ बुझाएपछि एसएलसीसम्म भर्ना गरिरहनु पर्दैन। विपन्न परिवारका सन्तानलाई समेत शिक्षाको विकल्प दिएको कारण यसको लोकप्रियता बढ्दो छ। बढ्दो लोकप्रियतासँगै यसमा सहयोगको हात बढाउने व्यक्ति पनि बढिरहेका छन्। ( Read more )

SINGAPORE, June 21: Narayan Khakurel spends his weekdays working at the Tengbaru outlet of international food chain KFC here in Singapore while his weekend is for friends who have also come to work in this island nation.
He is one of six Nepali youths selected by KFC from Kathmandu around two years ago to work at their outlets in Singapore. Bhagirath Thapa ´Anil´, Narayan Krishna Kayastha, Mohammad Nazi Uddin, Dilip Atreya and Sanjay Thapa were also chosen along with the lad from Chabahil, Kathmandu. SLC: 27 years later
“Dad, please check my SLC (School Leaving Certificate) examination result once it is published online,” my daughter sent me an SMS on Friday afternoon. I responded to her instantly. A couple of hours later, news portals posted the much-awaited result. I checked her result and wrote on her Facebook wall: Congratulations! You’ve passed in flying colors‼ Cheers‼! Simultaneously, I also called her. After a brief conversation, I hung up my phone.
My daughter is indeed lucky and privileged. There are many others like her who failed in the exam while a huge number of children her age do not even get a chance to attend schools.
The SLC result made me nostalgic. My memory traveled back 27 years when I was eagerly waiting for my SLC result like my daughter. However, the circumstance and education landscape then was vastly different. I was a little boy waiting for my result in a far-flung remote village. My daughter is in Kathmandu and has access to high speed broadband internet connection. She went to English medium school and I was not fortunate enough to attend such a school. ( Read more )
